Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine blackberries, 3/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Toss gently to coat and let sit.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 cup sugar.
- In a small bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until combined.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the blackberry mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Drop large spoonfuls of the batter over the berries. Do not spread smoothly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
