Description
These incredibly soft and pillowy dinner rolls are made with just three main ingredients: flour, yeast, and water. They are quick to prepare, require no long kneading, and deliver bakery-quality results perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) Instant Yeast
- 1 cup Warm Water (110°F / 43°C)
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Melted Butter (Optional, for dough and brushing)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt. Whisk to distribute evenly.
- Slowly pour in the warm water while stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 10 minutes to hydrate.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly for 2-3 minutes until smooth. Avoid adding too much extra flour.
- Place the dough back in the bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough gently and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Cover the rolls loosely and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes until puffy. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) during this time.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. If browning too fast, cover with foil.
- Remove from oven and immediately brush with melted butter. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure water is warm but not hot (110°F) to avoid killing the yeast. Do not over-knead to maintain softness. Rolls can be frozen for up to 3 months or stored at room temperature for 2 days.
