Description
A calming, 3-ingredient smoothie made with ripe bananas, strong chamomile tea, and Greek yogurt. It offers a thick, milkshake-like texture and natural sweetness without refined sugars.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large ripe bananas (frozen preferred)
- 1 cup strong-brewed chamomile tea, cooled
- 1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk (almond, oat, or dairy)
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Handful of ice cubes (only if using fresh bananas)
Instructions
- Brew one cup of strong chamomile tea using two tea bags or a tablespoon of loose leaf tea. Steep for 5-7 minutes, then let it cool to room temperature and refrigerate until cold.
- Peel two ripe bananas. If using fresh bananas, chop them into chunks. If using frozen bananas, keep them frozen until ready to blend.
- Add the cold chamomile tea to the blender first to protect the blades.
- Add the Greek yogurt, milk, honey (if using), and vanilla extract to the blender.
- Add the banana chunks or whole frozen bananas.
- Secure the lid and blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high. Blend for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
- If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more milk. If too thin, add ice or more frozen banana.
- Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best texture, use frozen bananas to eliminate the need for ice, which can water down the flavor. Ensure the chamomile tea is strong and cold. If your blender struggles with frozen fruit, add liquid first to create a vortex. Do not freeze the blended smoothie as the texture will become icy.
