Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread Bake

  • Author: jonathan_evans
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

A sticky, sweet, and impressive pull-apart dessert that combines the comfort of monkey bread with the cozy flavors of cinnamon rolls. Made with refrigerated biscuits, brown sugar, and a tangy cream cheese glaze, it requires zero kneading and is perfect for brunches or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans large refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 stick (113g) unsalted butter, melted (for dough)
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, softened (for glaze)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 4 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1–2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 12-cup Bundt pan or 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Separate biscuit dough pieces. If large, cut into quarters; if small, leave whole or halve. Place in a large bowl.
  3. Pour melted butter over the dough pieces and toss until fully coated.
  4. In a shallow bowl, mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts (if using).
  5. Roll each butter-coated dough piece in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and place in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes to set the structure.
  8. Invert onto a serving platter. If using a 9×13 dish, serve directly in the pan.
  9. Whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk/cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm bake and serve.

Notes

For make-ahead preparation, assemble the bake the night before, cover tightly, and refrigerate. Let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes before baking, adding 5-10 minutes to the baking time. Ensure the pan is well-greased to prevent sticking. The bake tastes even better the next day as flavors meld.
