Description
Handheld, baked dough pockets filled with seasoned ground beef, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and burger condiments. These savory bombs are a quick, crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack that combines the flavors of a classic cheeseburger in a flaky, golden shell.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 1 cup (100g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 6–8 strips bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish or pickled onions
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove and crumble, setting aside on paper towels to drain.
- In the same skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess liquid and grease thoroughly.
- In a medium bowl, combine the cooked beef, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar, mustard, relish, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Press seams together firmly.
- Place 1-2 tablespoons of the beef mixture in the center of each dough triangle. Sprinkle with a little extra cheese.
- Fold dough over filling to create a half-moon shape. Press edges firmly to seal, optionally crimping with a fork.
- Place bombs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk egg and water together. Brush tops generously with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool for 2-3 minutes before serving warm with dipping sauces.
Notes
Ensure the beef and bacon are well-drained to prevent soggy dough. Keep the dough cold until baking to ensure flakiness. Do not overfill the bombs to prevent bursting. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free crescent dough. Serve with ranch, ketchup, or spicy mayo.
