Description
A quick and easy dessert featuring caramelized pineapple chunks tossed in a spiced butter glaze, cooked to tender perfection in an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large ripe pineapple, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks or spears
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch chili powder or cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1 pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Wash the pineapple, remove the top, bottom, and skin, and cut the flesh into 1-inch chunks or spears, removing the core.
- Pat the pineapple pieces dry with a paper towel to ensure proper caramelization.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chili powder to form a thick paste.
- Place pineapple chunks in a large bowl and pour the glaze over them. Toss gently to coat evenly.
- Arrange the pineapple in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd.
- Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through to ensure even browning.
- Remove from the air fryer and immediately drizzle with fresh lime juice and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Serve warm immediately for the best texture.
Notes
Ensure pineapple pieces are dry before cooking to prevent steaming. Use room temperature butter for a smooth glaze. Flip pineapple halfway through cooking for even caramelization. If your air fryer runs cool, increase temperature to 400°F for the last 2 minutes. For a vegan version, substitute butter with coconut oil and brown sugar with maple syrup.
